Imran Khan’s Reaction to the Faiz Isa-led Audio Leaks Judicial Commission

Imran Khan has responded to the federal government’s formation of a judicial commission headed by Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Faiz Isa to investigate audio leaks related to the judiciary.

In a tweet, Imran Khan stated that many things were purposefully left out of the rules of the Audio Leak Inquiry Commission, and that the point of who is involved in the unconstitutional spying of the Prime Minister’s House was not kept in the inquiry commission. The inquiry commission did not inquire as to who was involved in the unconstitutional spying on serving judges.

Imran Khan went on to say that the inquiry commission should be given the authority to investigate which powerful elements record the telephones of citizens, including top government officials.

According to the former prime minister, recording citizens’ telephones, including those of leading public officials, is a serious violation of privacy under Article 14 of the Constitution, and those who leak illegal data through phone call tampering or phone tapping should also be held accountable.

Imran Khan also stated that the state should not interfere in certain aspects of life in law-abiding democracies. Who are those who are above the law and beyond the prime minister’s command? The Audio Inquiry Commission should identify those who have immunity and are illegally spying.
