In a PTA survey, telcos failed to meet 3G/4G performance standards

The majority of the performance thresholds set forth in Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) licences were not met by the Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs). An independent Quality of Service (QoS) Survey was conducted in twelve different cities throughout Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Balochistan to assess the performance and service quality of Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs).

The automated QoS monitoring and benchmarking tool “SMARTBENCHMARKER” was used to conduct the QoS survey. Both A Party and B Party mobile devices were kept in auto detect mode throughout voice calls and SMS sessions, whereas mobile handsets were locked in 4G/LTE and 3G modes during data sessions.

Jazz remained complaint in nine cities, including Gujranwala, Kasur, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Kohat, Haripur, Abbottabad, Pishin, Sibbi, Noshki, and Khuzdar, while Telenor remained complaint in eleven cities, including Gujranwala, Kasur, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Kohat, Haripur, Abbottabad, Pishin, Sibbi, Ufone is available in eight cities: Gujranwala, Rahim Yar Khan, Kohat, Haripur, Abbottabad, Pishin, Noshki & Khuzdar, and Zong is available in twelve cities: Gujranwala, Kasur, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Kohat, Swabi, Haripur, Abbottabad, Pishin, Sibbi, No Jazz, on the other hand, remained non-compliant in two cities, Swabi and Khuzdar, Telenor in one city, Haripur, and Ufone in two cities, Faisalabad and Swabi.

According to the terms of the NGMS licences, licensees must achieve a minimum of 2Mbps of 4G User Data Throughput. Jazz remained unsatisfied in eleven cities, Telenor in ten, Ufone in six, and ZonG in eleven, according to the results of the User Data Throughput Survey. In two cities, Telenor remained non-compliant, Ufone in four, and ZonG in one.
