The first ever ‘Technology Incubation Center’ (TIC) has been established in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), University of Sindh Jamshoro, in order to assist graduating students in starting their own enterprises and earning money rather than waiting for government positions.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, said in his presidential remarks that the Technology Incubation Centre will function under the office of research, innovation, and commercialization (ORIC) and that the university will support it to the fullest degree feasible.
According to him, graduating students were obliged to work in the centre for a year or two in order to be prepared to deal with business-related issues and start their own firms. “The term “incubation” means “to learn and earn.”
As a result, whatever students learn on campus during their studies should be used to expand their talents, start a business, and contribute to the development of the national economy, according to the vice chancellor.
He went on to say that launching a business may help more unemployed youth find work and that there was no shortage of talent in the country, particularly in Sindh, but that the youths simply needed to be given opportunity.
