India Beats Japan to Become World’s 3rd Largest Automaker Globally in 2022

According to a Nikkei Asia study released on Friday, India for the first time eclipsed Japan in auto sales last year and climbed to third position globally.

The number of new automobiles sold in the nation was at least 4.25 million, above Japan’s sales of 4.2 million.


According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, 4.13 million new cars would be supplied in India between January and November of 2022.


When the sales volume of Maruti Suzuki for December is added, the total increases to roughly 4.25 million units, per ANI.
