PM Shehbaz Sharif says $16.3 Billion Needed for Flood-Hit Areas

Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, has asked for a comprehensive international strategy to tackle the difficult challenge of rebuilding and rehabilitating flood-affected communities and creating a climate-resilient Pakistan.

He added in his opening remarks at the International Conference on Climate Resilient Infrastructure on Monday in Geneva that our people needed a new lifeline to sustain our economy and enter the 21st century with a future free from severe hazards to human security.

According to PM Shehbaz Sharif, we must work together to reconstruct the lives and dreams of those affected by the floods. At this crucial time, he claimed, Pakistan needs the long-term solidarity and support of the international community to avoid falling behind or to face the future with renewed hope and aspirations.
