India has Lost All Three Events in Which Virat Kohli was Named Player of the Tournament

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli achieved a historic feat by becoming the sole player to be named Player of the Tournament in three ICC events, following the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023 where Australia emerged victorious against India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Kohli, aged 35, crafted a remarkable narrative throughout the World Cup, captivating audiences with consistent performances in every match.

In this edition, Kohli set a new record by amassing 765 runs in 11 matches, establishing the highest run tally in a single World Cup with an impressive average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.31. His notable innings included a high score of 117 against New Zealand in the semi-final.

Kohli had previously been named Player of the Tournament in the 2014 T20 World Cup, scoring 319 runs, and in the 2016 T20 World Cup, where he achieved 273 runs with an astounding average of 136.50.

Despite Kohli’s stellar individual performances, India faced disappointment in all three instances where he was named Player of the Tournament.

In 2014, they lost the final to Sri Lanka, and in 2016, they were defeated by West Indies in the semi-final.
