The Asia Cup 2025 ended on a dramatic note in Dubai as India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to lift the trophy but the post-match ceremony took an unusual turn.
The Indian players celebrated their win on the field but did not accept the championship trophy from ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Instead of the traditional handover, the ceremony wrapped up quickly that left fans both at the stadium and watching worldwide surprised. While no official explanation has been given, reports suggest disagreements between cricket boards may have influenced the decision.
Earlier in the day, the final had already been charged with off-field tension. Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha once again faced a handshake refusal from Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav at the toss.
Although India lifted the title, the lack of a formal trophy presentation overshadowed the celebrations which sparked debate across cricketing circles.
