As T20 World Cup 2022 is over now, the focus diverted to the 2023 ODI World Cup which would be held in India next year.
These are the early days but still few who suggest the Indian Cricket team would be all time favourite as they will be playing in their hometown as they are familiar with the condition.
Michael Vaughan, former England captain is not happy with this perception. Have witnessed England doing wonders in Australia at the T20 World Cup, he has a feeling that Jos Buttler men will head into the 50-over World Cup as the favourites.
The men in blue were considered as the favourites to go the distance in the T20 World Cup as well but they were banged by England in the semi-finals. India being hammered from 10-wicket was an eye-opener for many.
Vaughan wrote in his column for the telegraph that England would be the team to beat next year in the ODI World Cup.
He stated, “The next big ticket is to win the 50 over World Cup in India next year. They have good spin options and you have to put them down as favourites for that tournament as well. When the tournament starts people will have India as favourites on home soil. Utter nonsense. England will be the team to beat without any question and that is going to be the case for a few more years to come.”
