Inflation Breaks all Records, Climbs to 35.37%

According to data released on Saturday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which monitors monthly inflation in Pakistan, hit a record high of 35.37 percent year over year in March.

According to data made public by PBS, price growth in urban and rural areas was 32.97 percent and 38.88 percent, respectively, year over year.

The disruption of supply chains and weak regulations were the main causes of the significant rise in food inflation.

According to PBS data, food inflation dramatically jumped to 47.1% in cities and a severe 50.2% increase in rural areas last month.
