The Pakistan chief selector has discussed a potential way for the retired fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, to come back to the Pakistan cricket team. This discussion happened when Pakistan announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
During a press conference in Lahore, Inzamam-ul-Haq clarified that Amir wasn’t chosen for the squad because he retired from international cricket. Inzamam explained that if Amir wants to play for Pakistan again, he needs to perform well in domestic first-class cricket. If he does well there, they will consider him. Inzamam also mentioned that this same approach applies to players like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shan Masood, and Imad Wasim.
It’s important to note that Amir retired from international cricket in 2020 but has been playing in franchise cricket. Recently, there has been speculation about his potential return to the Pakistan squad for the World Cup 2023 as a replacement for Naseem Shah.
