The Iraqi government has decided to offer free visas to Pakistani Arabaeen pilgrims from August 19 to September 20. This decision follows discussions between the two countries during a visit by former interior minister Rana Sanaullah to Iraq.
The Iraqi Embassy has provided details about the 30-day free visas for Pakistani pilgrims. Pakistan’s visa quota has been increased to 100,000, with only Iraqi and Pakistani airlines handling the travel.
Pakistani pilgrims will enter Iraq through Al-Sheib Port using the land route of Baghdad and Al-Najaf International Airport. Additionally, the requirement for Pakistani visitors to arrive and depart from the same airport has been removed.
The previous rules of a 15-day visa with a fee and specific logistical rules will no longer apply. Both countries will also work to ensure tourism companies offer good services to visitors.
