Islamabad under deep waters regarding population growth

The capital of Pakistan, Islamabad built near the world’s ancient city Taxila with a plan similar to that of Turkish city Ankara with foothills and plains with greenery. Today the city has become a magnet for real estate investors to build a housing society that had led to an exponential growth of population.

According to surveys conducted and census 2017, the reports suggested that in 20 years, the city experienced 100% residential growth, and the population of the city was 2 million. The increase in citizens has increased the burden on facilities like hospitals, infrastructure, and schools.

Residents of Islamabad shared their thoughts, stating that constructions of plazas, societies, and huge business centers have shadowed the beauty and destroyed plantations. Another citizen showed her disappointment of the city gradually losing its trademark beauty but still consider their hometown the most beautiful capital in the world.

PM Imran Khan launched a plantation drive to save Islamabad’s signature look, and trees will plant using the Miyazaki technique, will plant trees two to four per square meter. Residents are hopeful by this initiative that this will recover the city to somewhat of its old glory
