Islamabad is all set to launch the first open-air drive-in theatre ever and we can’t hold our excitement. It will open on December 18, ensuring fans will soon be able to watch and enjoy their favorite movies from the comfort and safety of their vehicles.
The pandemic has profoundly impacted the entertainment industry, along with other obstacles. Movie productions were put on hold and it was difficult to release them in cinemas even when shooting was resumed in order to avoid the spread of the virus.
Nevertheless, the Islamabad Capital Development Authority (CDA) came up with a solution. When Muhammad Hamza Shafqat was asked by a netizen to open a drive-in theatre, the District Commissioner said they were working on it.
And finally, it is happening! The drive-in cinema at the Parade Ground, adjacent to Islamabad Highway, will be opened next week. It is a Capital Development Authority (CDA) joint venture with a private telecommunications firm.
The films will be screened from 5:30 in the evenings from Friday to Sunday, according to the sources. Rizwan Afzal, head of marketing for a private telecommunications firm, said that entertainment would be restored for moviegoers in Islamabad, but Corona SOPs would be strictly pursued.
