It has Become Fashionable to Hate Muslims in India: Naseeruddin Shah

In an interview, Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah stated that India’s ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, is “cleverly using the fashion of hatred against Muslims.” This period has been described as troubling by the actor.

Naseeruddin Shah told Indian media that the mood of recent Bollywood films reflects real-world events, and that it is full of Islamophobia.

According to Naseeruddin Shah, it is definitely a disturbing time, and these kinds of things and open propaganda are being appreciated as a reflection of the times. In India, hating Muslims has become fashionable.

He claimed that anti-Muslim sentiment has become fashionable even among educated people. The ruling party, BG Pay, has very cleverly instilled this hatred in the minds of the general public.

He went on to say that if India is secular and democratic, why is religion included in everything? The Election Commission has also become a bystander. The Election Commission says nothing about politicians who use religion cards to get votes, but if a Muslim leader goes out to ask for votes while saying Allahu Akbar, there will be a riot in India.

Naseeruddin Shah, on the other hand, expressed optimism and stated that the hatred of Muslims and the religion card is coming to an end. However, the use of religious cards is currently at an all-time high in the country. The BGP government has played a very clever card here. And their strategy is working.

According to renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah, the Hindi film industry has never been ahead in terms of facing challenges and dealing with problems. He also questioned whether a film about wrestlers protesting in the nation’s capital would be made.

Naseeruddin Shah, 72, has been a vocal critic of the BJP government at the Centre and has faced backlash for several of his statements in the past. In an interview with the news agency PTI, he stated that the Hindi film industry’s “silence on important issues” is nothing new.

In the interview, Shah stated, “The climate of hatred worsens it, strengthens it, and that is why this is happening.” Everyone is scared, not just the Hindi film industry on any level, especially politically or socially.” There were filmmakers like KA Abbas and V Shantaram, whose films were very progressive.”

When discussing harassment in the minds of people in the film industry, Naseeruddin Shah brought up the arrest of Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan in a drug case.

“I think all of them (the film industry) are afraid of the persecution they will face if they speak out,” he said. I believe Aryan Khan’s imprisonment served as a warning that if we can do it with Shah Rukh Khan, we can do it with anyone. So be cautious.”

Naseeruddin Shah stated that he is not afraid of speaking his mind, but rather of the country’s future. We’re going backwards, and it’s terrifying.
