Japan Announces Award for Pakistani Ambassador

Imtiaz Ahmad, a former Pakistani ambassador to Japan, will receive “Spring Conferment of Decorations” in 2023 from the government of Japan in appreciation for his efforts to advance friendship between Pakistan and Japan and develop bilateral relations.

The former ambassador will get “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star,” according to a statement from the Japan Embassy in Pakistan.

Imtiaz Ahmad has more than 16 years of experience serving as a diplomat in Japan, having held nearly every position from a junior diplomat to the position of Ambassador.

The Great East Japan Earthquake struck on March 11, 2011, when Mr Imriaz was serving as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Pakistani Embassy in Tokyo, the embassy said while paying respect to him.

After the earthquake, he got in touch with the Pakistani community in Tokyo and went with them every weekend to the disaster zones to serve Pakistani food and hand out goods.

His and the Pakistani people’s dedication grasped many Japanese people, and the Pakistani and Japanese media both praised him for being there for the disaster victims.
