Javed Afridi Unveils Smart Little MG Electric Car of Price Less Than Rs.1 Million

With a post about a cheap and smart little electric vehicle (EV) that would be ideal for Pakistan for multiple reasons, Javed Afridi has once again grabbed the interest of Pakistani car enthusiasts and the general public.

This EV is a compact, lightweight vehicle with two variants: a base model with a 9.2 kWh battery pack and a range of 120 kilometers, and a better model with a 13.8 kWh battery pack and a range of 170 kilometers.

Its manufacturers say that it is the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle. Its price range in China starts at $4,162 (PKR 6.3 lac) and goes up to $5,607 (PKR 8.56 lac). As a result, if it were ever made available in Pakistan at the same price, it would certainly sell in the thousands.

Javed Afridi is a major shareholder in MG Pakistan, one of SAIC Motors’ subsidiaries. This suggests that a launch of the Wuling Mini EV in Pakistan is a distinct possibility, and one to anticipate.
