The Sindh government has announced the temporary closure of schools in Karachi for four days, from November 19 to 22, 2024, due to the 12th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS). This decision was made following recommendations from the DIG Traffic and Private Schools Directorate to ensure smooth operations and security during the event.
IDEAS 2024, held at Karachi Expo Centre, is set to host defense leaders and delegations from across the globe. Since its inception in 2000, IDEAS has become a critical platform for promoting Pakistan’s domestic arms industry and facilitating international defense collaborations. The event will include exhibitions, seminars, and interactions with global defense vendors, highlighting Pakistan’s focus on indigenous arms development.
To manage traffic disruptions, Karachi police have issued a comprehensive traffic plan for residents. Schools near Karsaz and Sharah-e-Faisal will remain shut, reflecting measures to minimize public inconvenience.
This year’s event underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering defense sector innovation while ensuring a seamless experience for international and local participants.
