Lahore CBD Development Authority approved

By approving the establishment of a new authority, the Lahore Central Business District (CBD) Development Authority, the provincial government has taken significant steps to improve marketing activities.

Following the approval of the provincial cabinet, marketing activities in the posh areas of Lahore will be improved, while legislation will enable retired and on-duty armed forces officers to be deployed alongside the civil service.

The CBD Development Authority of Lahore is also allowed to impose fines on violators of the approved state land master plan. The CBD authority in Central Lahore will provide final authorization for the construction of high-rise buildings.

In addition to serving as an autonomous agency to finalize issues related to land laws, the newly constituted authority has been granted powers to launch all genres of development work. In addition to creating regulations for water and sewerage charges, powers for the selling and purchase of land are also granted.

Earlier on January 22, a high-level meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan to review progress on various housing projects, including Ravi Riverfront Urban Development, in addition to reviewing progress on the relocation of Walton Airport, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Central Business District.

He was told that in compliance with international standards, the industrial, retail and residential zoning of the Central Business District and the relocation of projects at Lahore’s Walton Airport were underway.
