Lahore High Court Nullifies Hamza Shehbaz’s Election as Punjab CM

On Thursday, The Lahore High Court (LHC) annulled the election of Hamza Shehbaz as Punjab’s chief minister.

The court ruled on the petitions of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) as ordered. PTI had approached the LHC to have Hamza Shehbaz’s voting card cancelled.

The judgment was 4:1 as only Judge Muhammad Sajid Mehmood Sethi disagreed on the matter.

The Supreme Court said the detailed ruling on the case would be published later on the website.

In the meantime, Hamza Shehbaz has called in legal experts to consult on the situation in light of the court decisions.

On Wednesday, lawyers from the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), PTI and other parties closed their arguments on the petitions against Hamza Shehbaz’s swearing-in as Prime Minister of Punjab and the way it was carried out.

The taking of the oath. As for the petitions, the Supreme Court had set up a larger five-member court to challenge the ruling of the LHC’s sole court, which ordered Speaker of the National Assembly Pervaiz Ashraf to swear in Hamza Shehbaz as CM.
