‘Let people enjoy’: Islamabad high court rejected order to ban fireworks on new year Eve

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed a writ petition seeking a ban on New Year’s Eve fireworks in the federal capital on Friday.

The petition submitted by an Islamabad citizen was dismissed as non-maintainable by an IHC court led by Chief Justice Athar Minallah.

“Let people have fun,” said the senior IHC judge. “This occurs all around the world, not only in Pakistan.”

According to the petitioner, the Islamabad deputy commissioner granted a no-objection certificate (NOC) for a fireworks display outside a commercial complex near GT road. He claims that fireworks are held for 30 minutes and attract a big number of people, causing traffic problems.
