LHC Sends Notice to Govt on Sky-High Car Prices

The federal government and other respondents on a writ petition against rising car prices received notices from the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.

Despite the falling dollar rate, petitioner Azhar Siddique claimed in court that car prices did not decrease. He said that the average person could not afford such high car prices.

The petition claims that the ban on vehicle imports has caused vehicle prices to skyrocket. The petitioner claimed that allowing vehicle imports would lower vehicle prices, claiming that the ban was causing local auto companies to sell four-wheelers at exorbitant prices.

As a result, the petitioner pleaded with the court to order the government to lift the import ban on vehicles.
