The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for August by Rs. 12.89 per kilogram. Following the latest increase, the price of a standard 11.8kg household LPG cylinder has crossed Rs. 3,000, adding to the financial burden on consumers.
Under the revised rates, LPG will now be sold at Rs. 254.32 per kilogram. The price of a standard domestic cylinder has been set at Rs. 3,000.92 for the month of August. The new prices have come into effect and will remain applicable throughout the month unless OGRA announces another revision.
The increase is expected to raise household expenses, especially for families that depend on LPG for cooking and other daily needs. Many households in areas without access to natural gas rely heavily on LPG, making any price increase a direct impact on their monthly budgets.
Small businesses that use LPG for their daily operations are also likely to face higher operating costs. Restaurants, tea stalls, bakeries, and other small enterprises may experience increased expenses because of the higher fuel prices.
Energy prices play an important role in the cost of living, and changes in LPG rates often affect both domestic consumers and businesses. The latest increase is expected to add further pressure on people already managing rising living costs.
