Major General Azhar Ali Syed, the First Major General to be Commissioned from PMA Long Course, Passes Away

Major General Azhar Ali Syed of Pakistan Army’s first PMA Long Course has passed away at the age of 94.

Officers of the first PMA Long Course of the Pakistan Army started training at the PMA in January 1948 and were commissioned on February 4, 1950. Nishan Haider Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed was also commissioned in the PMA Long Course earlier.

Major General Azhar Ali Syed was laid to rest with full military honors at the Military Cemetery Rawalpindi.

The first PMA Long Course consisted of 80 cadets. Major General Azhar Ali Syed performed significantly in the Electric and Mechanical Engineering Corps.
