A remarkable rescue unfolded on Thursday in the Darang area of Rustam tehsil, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district, where a man was discovered alive after spending 16 days trapped beneath the debris of a collapsed marble mine. The extraordinary development was confirmed by Rescue 1122 officials, who had been tirelessly conducting search operations since the disaster occurred.
The incident originally took place on March 31, when the marble mine suddenly caved in, resulting in a devastating loss of life. Eight العمال lost their lives in the collapse, while three others sustained injuries. In the aftermath, one worker remained unaccounted for — a labourer named Khyber, who belonged to Mohmand district. Despite continuous efforts, hopes of finding him alive had significantly diminished over time.
However, in a dramatic and uplifting turn of events, rescue teams located Khyber deep inside a tunnel within the collapsed structure. Against all odds, he had survived more than two weeks in extremely harsh and life-threatening conditions. His recovery has been described as nothing short of miraculous, bringing a rare sense of relief and hope to an otherwise tragic situation.
The rescue operation, which had persisted for days despite mounting challenges, ultimately paid off with this incredible discovery. The survival of the trapped worker has not only astonished officials and locals but has also highlighted the determination and resilience of both the rescue personnel and the human spirit in the face of adversity.
