Meet the First Woman DPO in KPK: Sonia Shamroz

In Lower Chitral, Sonia Shamroz Khan Jadoon has been posted as District Police Officer (DPO), making her the first woman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to serve in the position.

She is the first female police officer in the district to lead the police. She will succeed Abdul Hayee, the new DPO, who has been posted to the Central Police Office (CPO).

Sonia Shamroz is an Abbottabad Grade-18 Officer. She holds an MBA degree in Human Resource Management and entered Pakistan’s Police Service in 2013.

She became the first woman principal posted at the police training centre in Mansehra in April 2019. She was previously appointed as Abbottabad Superintendent of Police (SP). She has a alot of expertise in crime prevention, prosecution and interaction with individuals.

She was awarded a shooting fellowship in the U.K. earlier this year and returned in September. She also finished a course on abuse against women and the settlement of conflicts.

Sonia Shamroz that said she was proud to have been appointed as the first female DPO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while talking to a media outlet. She said that representing the whole district was a big challenge, but she was given the opportunity to represent the people and she would fulfill her duties.
