Microsoft is said to be developing its own AI chip to reduce its dependency on Nvidia GPUs for AI tasks.
The new AI chip may be officially revealed in November during Microsoft’s Ignite conference for IT professionals.
In recent times, Microsoft has heavily invested in generative AI, introducing new “Copilot” features in Bing, Windows, and Microsoft 365. These Copilot tools rely on large language models from OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and these models require costly Nvidia chips to function.
