Misbah Suggests One Change in Pakistan Team After India Loss

Former Pakistani captain Misbah ul Haq suggested that one player should be replaced in the Pakistan cricket team following their seven-wicket loss to India in the ICC World Cup 2023 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Many questions arose after this historic defeat, and fans are now calling for changes, particularly for players like Shadab Khan, who has consistently delivered subpar performances. Even before the World Cup began, concerns were raised about Shadab’s selection in the squad due to his poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023.

However, Captain Babar Azam assured the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, that Shadab would be dropped if he didn’t perform.

Misbah addressed the performance of Pakistan’s spin department, specifically Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan, and believed that it was time to include Usama Mir in the squad, particularly in place of Shadab.

Misbah noted that every upcoming match for Pakistan is now a do-or-die contest, given their situation in the tournament.

In the match, Rohit Sharma played a crucial role in India’s victory, helping them rise to the top of the ICC World Cup points table with an impressive run rate. Rohit scored 86 runs from 63 balls, including 12 boundaries, contributing to India’s record eighth victory over Pakistan in World Cup history.

Batting first, Pakistan’s innings crumbled, leading to a total of 191 runs, as they lost eight wickets for just 36 runs in 12.5 overs.
