On Wednesday, Dr. Geoffrey Shaw, the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, joined Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul to inaugurate a Miyawaki Forest at Fatima Jinnah Park in Islamabad.
The forest was given to the public park by the High Commission as part of a Capital Development Authority (CDA) initiative to help Pakistan’s Miyawaki Forest and the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2021.
“This Miyawaki Forest is a gift from the Australian Government to the citizens of Pakistan. I hope that the trees and shrubs planted here today contribute to making Pakistan cleaner and greener, not only in terms of the climate of Islamabad,” Dr Shaw said at the tree-planting ceremony.
