More than 1,200 People Hospitalised Across Pakistan Due to Over Eating During Eid ul Adha

During the Eid ul Adha holidays, over 1,200 people were hospitalized across the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, primarily due to overeating and related health issues.

In Peshawar alone, there were 610 cases of gastroenteritis reported in the last 24 hours. Mohammad Asim, spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital, stated that these cases were mainly due to overeating and excessive consumption of meat.

The hospital also treated several individuals who had been injured by animals during the holiday. Additionally, approximately 500 people were hospitalized because of traffic accidents during this period.

In Punjab, six major public hospitals reported a combined total of 2,200 patients during the Eid ul Adha holidays. Among these, 180 cases involved gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital treated more than 130 patients for these ailments. Services Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, and Mayo Hospital each admitted over 100 patients with similar health issues.

Medical experts are urging people to eat meat in moderation and avoid overeating during the Eid ul Adha celebrations. They emphasize that while enjoying the holiday is important, it is equally important to take care of one’s health.

The significant number of hospital admissions highlights the impact of dietary habits on health during festive periods. Health professionals continue to stress the importance of balanced eating and the dangers of overindulgence, especially when it comes to rich and heavy foods like meat. By following these guidelines, people can enjoy their celebrations without compromising their health.
