More than 30 Million Pilgrims Performed Umrah in Holy Month of Ramadan

This year’s Ramadan saw a massive influx of over 30 million Muslims participating in the Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, according to a Saudi official. Walid Basamad, representing a state agency in charge of Islam’s holiest sites, praised the efficient coordination of different directorates that provided exceptional services at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

The number of pilgrims, including many from outside Saudi Arabia, peaked during the lunar month of Ramadan. To manage the large crowds, authorities implemented various measures such as designating specific areas for performing Umrah rituals and organizing the use of entry and exit gates.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also recommended that pilgrims perform only one Umrah to reduce congestion and maintain order. These strategies aimed to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone visiting the holy site during this sacred time.
