The traffic police in Punjab have increased fines for motorcycle riders who do not wear helmets. This is part of a new effort to improve road safety across all districts. Now, wearing a helmet is mandatory, and riders who fail to comply will not be allowed access to important areas.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar has announced that special checkpoints will be set up on major roads such as Mall Road, Jail Road, and Ferozepur Road, among others. There will also be additional checkpoints at locations like Shanu Baba Chowk and Lake City to help enforce these helmet rules.
Traffic wardens will be stationed at busy entry and exit points of the roads. They will be checking for helmet use and will impose fines on riders who are not wearing their helmets properly or who place their helmets on the motorcycle tank instead of wearing them.
This initiative aims to ensure that all riders prioritize their safety while on the road and to reduce the number of accidents caused by helmet non-compliance.
