Muhammad Ahmed: Student of Lahore Develops a Unique Cap for Visually Impaired People

A student of Lahore has developed a unique cap for visually impaired people that allows them to travel easily without using their stick, which is a huge accomplishment.

Muhammad Ahmed developed his device while working on his final year project, which could make it easier for blind people to walk freely.

He explained how his cap functions, stating that it has two sensors that sense something approaching from a distance of 2.5 metres and vibrate to alert blind people to the obstacle.

He explained that different sets of vibrations have been built into the cap to alert visually disabled people to the direction of the hurdle.

“If there is a hurdle on the right side, this side will vibrate; if there is a hurdle on the left side, the left vibrator will act; and if there is a hurdle on the front side, both vibrators will act simultaneously,” Ahmed explained.

According to the student, a sound mode was also built in the unit to alert the visually impaired man in a rush situation where vibration sensors could not function well.

He explained that the sensors in the cap were essentially car parking sensors.
