Muharram Moon Not Sighted, New Islamic Year to Begin from 17 June in Pakistan

Pakistan will begin the new Islamic year, 1448 Hijri, on 17 June after the moon for Muharram was not sighted across the country. The announcement was made following the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which reviewed reports from different regions before confirming that the crescent was not visible.

With the new moon expected to be sighted the following day, 1st Muharram will now fall on 17 June, marking the start of the Islamic New Year in Pakistan. Muharram is considered one of the holiest months in Islam, with special significance attached to the 10th day, Ashura, observed with religious gatherings and processions across the country.
