Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, has officially withdrawn its trademark application for the phrase “Operation Sindoor.” The company explained that the application was filed by mistake by a junior team member and that they had no intention of using the term for commercial purposes.
“Operation Sindoor” is associated with a recent Indian military operation and has come to represent courage, patriotism, and national pride. Many people saw the trademark move as an attempt to profit from a serious national event.
However, Reliance quickly clarified the situation. Jio Studios, a part of Reliance, originally filed the trademark for potential use in entertainment projects but has since retracted the application.
The company emphasized that it respects the cultural and national significance of the term and does not plan to use it for films, shows, or any other commercial content. The word “Sindoor” also holds deep traditional value in Indian culture, often representing marital commitment and respect.
This situation has drawn attention due to the growing trend of making movies that highlight military bravery. Films like “Uri: The Surgical Strike” have gained popularity for portraying the strength and courage of India’s armed forces.
Reliance’s quick action to withdraw the application shows its sensitivity toward public sentiment and national values. The company also stated that it remains committed to acting responsibly in all its creative and business decisions.
