Recently a document by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has been released that shows that the power consumers in the whole nation have paid around RS 366.18 billion that is 65% above from the actual production cost of the electricity in the previous years.
The documents; however, shows the figure of 119.72 billion units of the electricity that were produced at a total cost for the year as RS 561 billion.
Consumers of the electricity have paid RS 961 billion in total for the electricity. It includes the surcharges levied and taxes by the government as in addition that is the profits of distributors and the producers.
The document also showed the quarterly adjustments that were of RS1.58 where the Neelum-Jhelum surcharge were of RS 0.10 and the fuel surcharge were of RS 0.43 that are levied as per unit of the consumed electricity.
Each of the consumers pays the TV license fee that is of RS 35 monthly. The electricity duty finally is 1.5% and the GST on it is 17% that are also collected by the consumers.
