The Centre for Affordable Housing & Sustainable Built Environment (CAHSBE) of the NED University of Engineering & Technology, inaugurated an affordable, low-cost model home on University Road at the varsity campus.
In support of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to provide housing units with allied facilities to all, in particular focusing on financially underserved and middle-income communities, and as a measure of holistic socio-economic uplift, the varsity established the center in 2019.
Dr. Ahmad said the center would assist in the implementation of strategies involving all stakeholders to include safe, capital-intensive infrastructure, energy-efficient and low-cost housing facilities.
He said that as many as 28 national universities are electronically linked to the center, adding that zoom meetings are held every two weeks with representatives of each university, during which representatives give presentations on their low-cost housing scheme projects.
