Researchers at University College London (UCL) have set a new world record for wireless data speeds, reaching 938 gigabits per second. This is 5,000 times faster than what today’s 5G networks can offer.
They achieved this by combining radio and optical technologies, which help avoid overcrowded frequency channels. This breakthrough is expected to lead to ultra-fast 6G networks in the near future.
With 6G, tasks that take minutes or hours today will be done in seconds. For instance, downloading a 4K Ultra HD movie would take just 0.12 seconds. It will also improve internet speed in crowded places like stadiums and shopping malls, reducing the slowdowns we often experience.
This innovation moves us closer to a future of super-fast, reliable internet for everyone.
