No Army, No Freedom: Shahid Afridi Condemns Riots and Political Chaos

Shahid Khan Afridi, the former captain of the Pakistani cricket team, has addressed the recent incidents of mockery directed towards the country’s military and authorities, setting the record straight. Afridi stated that true freedom can be understood when the armed forces do not exist or surrender before catastrophes.

During an interview with a local media outlet, Afridi clarified that he refrains from using derogatory language when discussing politics due to the media’s tendency to misinterpret and take statements out of context.

He emphasized the unfortunate turn politics takes when opposition parties fail to set aside their differences for the betterment of the country. Afridi expressed his disappointment with the state of political affairs and the desperate strategies employed by political parties to maintain power.

Growing up in Pakistan himself, Afridi expressed his concern over the current situation, stating that he struggles to provide satisfactory answers or explanations to his own children. He compared the damage caused by external and internal enemies, highlighting the havoc created by internal chaos. Afridi stressed the importance of a strong military force that can protect the country, citing the plight of Kashmiris and Palestinians who are unable to defend themselves.

Not only did Afridi condemn the violent protests that took place on May 9, but he also emphasized that the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army should not be disregarded. The former cricket captain’s remarks shed light on the need for unity, respect, and appreciation for the military’s role in safeguarding the nation.
