No Increase in Gas Tariff for the Next Few Months: PM Imran Khan

The Prime Minister, who was chairing a review meeting on the prices of flour, sugar, and other basic commodities, called for increased efforts to support the common people, especially the poor.

Former finance minister Shaukat Tareen, federal ministers Khusro Bakhtiar, Hafeez Sheikh, Hammad Azhar, Fakhr-e-Imam, Omar Ayub, and Asad Umar; special assistants Nadeem Babar, Waqar Masood, and Tabish Gohar, federal secretaries and senior officials attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the price stability of essential commodities, especially flour, as well as price reductions for sugar, gas, and petrol. The Prime Minister was briefed on the foreign market prices for petroleum products.

Gas prices were increased on July 1, 2019, according to PM’s Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has now proposed a 6-7 percent rise in its tariff.
