China (Shaanxi)-Pakistan Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair was held in Xi’an, China last Friday, gathering almost 40 companies from oil and gas enterprises from Pakistan, both public and private, to tap opportunities at the trade hub in northwestern China.
“This is the first time, perhaps in recent memory, that such a large delegation and this kind of sector-specific conference is being convened in Shaanxi province,” according to Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi.
Following PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Xi’an in June, the momentum of bilateral cooperation paced up. From January to August this year, Shaanxi Province has witnessed doubled trade volume with Pakistan from January to August this year. The province’s prowess in photovoltaic (PV) technology is particularly notable, with a local solar energy company commanding up to 40% of Pakistan’s market share at its peak.
