The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest company for exploring oil and gas, has made a significant gas discovery at the Chak 214-1 exploratory well in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab. OGDCL, which operates the Mari East Block (100%), reported this discovery to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The Chak 214-1 well was drilled by OGDCL’s own experts and reached a depth of 1,851 meters. During tests conducted in the Dunghan Formation and Sui Main Limestone (SML), they found gas flows of 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and 1.31 mmscfd, respectively. This is an important discovery and the first one in the Mari East Block.
