Over 8 Million Pilgrims Perform Umrah So Far this Ramadan

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently shared some new figures about people performing Umrah during Ramadan. According to their latest data, a whopping eight million individuals have taken part in Umrah rituals this month.

During Ramadan, many people from all over the world visit Madinah before heading to Makkah for their spiritual journey. Saudi authorities are making sure that they provide all the necessary services to make this experience smooth and meaningful for everyone.

For a lot of pilgrims, their journey starts at the Mosque of Miqat Dhu Al-Hulayfah in Madinah. Here, they perform two rak’ahs (prayer units) before heading to Makkah.

The latest report from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah shows that since the beginning of the Umrah season, 8,235,680 people have come from other countries to perform Umrah. Out of these, 7,259,504 have already completed their Umrah, leaving around 976,176 visitors and Umrah performers in the country.

The report also gives us some interesting details about how these pilgrims prefer to travel. Most of them, about 980,556, chose to travel by land. Others preferred air travel, with 700,983 arrivals, and some even traveled by sea, with 54,141 people opting for this route.

One airport, the Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, has been especially busy, with 1,919,971 arrivals and 1,437,849 departures recorded. On average, about 6,579 people arrive and 5,613 depart from this airport every day to perform Umrah.
