Pakistan Army becomes world’s first foreign military to receive a donation of coronavirus vaccine from China

On Monday, Pakistan Army became the world’s first foreign army to receive a donation of a coronavirus vaccine from the Chinese military, but the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said it wanted to donate it to the national vaccine campaign.

“People’s Liberation Army (PLA), People’s Republic of China has donated COVID-19 vaccine for Pakistan Armed Forces,” the ISPR said in a statement.

The ISPR said the army will not retain the vaccine on its own, but will contribute to the national vaccine campaign instead.

This is the second consignment by Pakistan of the Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine. Pakistan has already received 500,000 doses of the Chinese vaccine used to inoculate the country’s frontline health workers. About 12,000 frontline healthcare workers have so far been vaccinated.
