Pakistan accepts Qatar petroleum bid; bought LNG at highest-ever price.

To avoid a possible gas crisis this winter, Pakistan has accepted a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo at the highest-ever price of $30.6 per unit, as quoted by Qatar Petroleum.

The record-breaking bid was in response to a tender issued by Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) for the emergency purchase of two LNG cargoes to ensure gas supplies during the winter months of December and January.

However, in the face of soaring gas costs on the international market, the two companies backed out and declined to bring two LNG ships.

Gunvor, a commodity trader, and Eni, an energy powerhouse, had previously failed to deliver LNG cargoes to Pakistan. PLL has short- and long-term agreements with both international businesses for the monthly delivery of one LNG cargo each.
