Punjab has completed Pakistan’s first dedicated wildlife hospital at Safari Zoo Lahore, marking a major development in the treatment and protection of wild animals and birds.
The completion of the facility was announced on September 8, 2026, during a briefing for Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb at the Forest and Wildlife Command and Control Centre. Officials said the hospital has been built to provide medical care to injured, sick and rescued wildlife.
The hospital includes 12 operation theatres and two examination rooms, giving wildlife teams a dedicated space for diagnosis, surgery and treatment. The project had been under construction earlier this year, with officials saying it would include advanced veterinary services.
The facility is part of Punjab’s wider efforts to improve wildlife protection. The province has also introduced mobile medical services for animals and portable diagnostic equipment to reduce the need to move injured wildlife over long distances.
Officials are also using artificial intelligence, thermal cameras, satellite monitoring and live surveillance to improve forest protection and detect fires.
