Pakistan and China Sign $382 Million Agricultural Cooperation Agreement

At the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) held in Beijing, a major $380 million agreement was signed between International Innovation Park Limited EPZ and China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs (COFCO). This deal aims to boost agricultural cooperation between the two countries, focusing on expanding trade and collaboration in the agricultural sector.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, celebrated this important achievement, noting that Pakistan has strong trade opportunities with major global economies, especially through the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA). He emphasized how such agreements can help Pakistan grow its agricultural exports and strengthen its economy.

In another significant development, Liu Zhai and Naveed Asghar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote digital transformation in Pakistan’s textile industry. This partnership is expected to bring new technologies to the textile sector, improving efficiency and productivity.

Shaikh Muhammad Shariq of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) also highlighted the importance of CIFTIS as a key platform for fostering international financial collaboration. He stressed how the event brings together global financial leaders, creating new opportunities for economic cooperation and growth.

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan underscored the importance of the ongoing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, stating that the two countries continue to work closely on various projects that benefit both economies.

He also pointed out that events like CIFTIS play a crucial role in strengthening these ties and promoting mutual development in sectors like agriculture, textiles, and finance.

This event marks another step forward in the growing relationship between Pakistan and China, highlighting their shared commitment to economic progress and innovation.
