This year marks the 50th anniversary of “diplomatic ties and exemplary friendship” between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Qureshi was speaking at a press conference in Dubai on the second day of his three-day visit to the UAE, amid claims that the UAE has been mediating between India and Pakistan in order to help the nuclear-armed rivals forge a “healthy and functional” partnership.
“This is a crucial year for Pakistan-UAE relations,” the foreign minister said, adding that this year marked the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
According to Qureshi, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan laid the foundation for ties and “warmth and affection” between the UAE and Pakistan, and the two countries are now attempting to “step it forward on both sides and there has been progress.”
He also stated that Pakistan places a high value on its friendship with the UAE, as per Radio Pakistan.
