Pakistan Announces Squad for Ireland, England T20I Series

The Pakistan cricket team selection committee has unveiled an 18-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.

The squad will first compete against Ireland in a three-match series, followed by a four-match series against England, the reigning T20 World Champions.

Trimming of Squad

The team’s roster will be reduced to 15 players for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after the first T20I match at Leeds on May 22, aligning with the ICC’s May 24 deadline.

Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Salman Ali Agha have returned to the 18-player squad, while Usama Mir and Zaman Khan have been omitted.

Haris Rauf and Azam Khan missed the previous T20Is against New Zealand due to injuries. Additionally, Mohammad Irfan Khan and Mohammad Rizwan were rested. However, after undergoing fitness assessments, all four players have shown promising signs of improvement.

The squad features players like Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Irfan Khan Niazi, Iftikhar Ahmad, Usman Khan, Azam Khan (wk), Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Abbas Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Salman Ali Agha.

Fixture Schedule

The series will kick off with the first T20I in Leeds on May 22, followed by matches in Birmingham, Cardiff, and The Oval, London.

Match Schedule:

  • May 22: First T20I in Leeds (10:30pm PST)
  • May 25: Second T20I in Birmingham (6:30pm PST)
  • May 28: Third T20I in Cardiff (10:30pm PST)
  • May 30: Fourth T20I at The Oval, London (10:30pm PST)

With a blend of experienced and emerging talent, Pakistan aims to put up a strong performance in the upcoming series against Ireland and England.
