IG Punjab, Inam Ghani sought assistance from Pakistan Army and Rangers during the upcoming home series against South Africa to ensure foolproof protection.
For this purpose, IG Punjab formally wrote to the Ministry of the Interior requesting the deployment of 4 Ranger companies and 3 Army companies during the tour.
The IG has also requested the Ministry to provide a dedicated helicopter for full surveillance for the Punjab Police.
During the home series, he also wanted the Ministry to suspend cellular services in and around the venue.
Meanwhile, for the 2-Test match series against South Africa today, PCB is expected to reveal the initial 20-member squad. After the completion of the mandatory quarantine needed by the PCB, the final 16-member squad will be confirmed.
