On the anniversary of his martyrdom, Pakistan pays tribute to Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, who was the first person to receive the highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider.
The armed forces, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and services chiefs honored his bravery, determination, and strength. Captain Sarwar showed incredible courage during the war in Kashmir, which led to him receiving the prestigious award.
He was born in 1910 in Singhori village and joined the military in 1929. Rising through the ranks, he became a Captain and played a vital role in his battalion, leading his troops with exceptional bravery until he sacrificed his life on July 27, 1948, while serving his duty.
